Premier Trailer Leasing has grown into a national trailer rental and leasing provider with over 60,000 trailers and 41+ locations nationwide.
As a business that relies on its trailer assets, Premier needed highly accurate, real-time visibility into where its trailers were at all times. Without reliable trailer location data, it was difficult to quickly track down assets and keep them moving to the next customer.
Premier’s previous tracking provider delivered inconsistent data and frequent technical issues. On top of this, the vendor changed ownership every two to three

After evaluating several GPS trailer tracking providers, Premier selected Spireon for its robust solutions and long-term stability. Today, the majority of Premier’s 60,000+ trailers are equipped with Spireon’s FL Flex family of devices.
Premier manages its trailer fleet using Spireon’s cloud-based FleetLocate UI, which centralizes visibility into idle trailers, landmarks, automated reports and user management. According to Premier’s Manager of Telematics, the intuitive interface “is simplistic and allows you to focus on what you’re looking for.”
To extend this value to its leasing customers, Premier deployed the FleetLocate leasing module, allowing customers to view and manage the trailers they rent from Premier. The company also offers API integrations so customers can pull FleetLocate data into their own systems. In addition, Premier is rolling out IntelliScan cargo sensors and image retrieval across its dry van fleet to provide 99% accurate load status.
By activating the FleetLocate leasing module, Premier turned trailer visibility into a new revenue stream. When customers rent trailers, they can opt in to tracking for a monthly or per-day fee — and about 90% of customers choose to do so. This feature alone has driven a 30–40% increase in business wins.
With IntelliScan cargo sensors providing image-based cargo detection at 99% accuracy, Premier and its customers can quickly see which trailers are loaded or empty and better plan utilization.
